Introduction

We all know that some of our old computers might just be lying around, still in working condition but not used. Some of these stopped receiving updates because it was stopped by the software company.

Eskwela OS' first stable release, codenamed "Isa" (means one), is a lightweight linux operating system. It uses XFCE, a lightweight window manager to make older computers work faster and more efficient. It can also refresh new and powerful systems.

The name Eskwela is a Filipino word that means school. Thus with this operating system, we give you the freedom to explore the world and learn from it.

Goal:
Eskwela OS aims to become a major linux operating system for schools in the Philippines. It specially aims to be installed on lower-end computers for educational purposes.

System Requirements

Eskwela OS is light on resources. You need to have at least the specifications below for you to install Eskwela OS on your desktop or laptop.

These are the minimum system requirements for Eskwela OS
  • CPU: 1GHz+
  • RAM: 256MB+ for Desktop / LiveCD - 512MB recommended
  • Hard drive space: 7GB
  • Graphics card and monitor capable of 800 x 600 resolution

Pre-installed Software

Eskwela OS is a Xubuntu 14.04.3 LTS - based distribution. It is light on resources which is geared towards older computers. It comes with pre-installed software that can be used out-of-the box.

Eskwela OS is still undergoing polishing and testing. However, you can download the latest working version of this distribution in the button below.

This iso image is based on a 32-bit architecture. Hopefully soon there will be a 64-bit version of this operating system.
